CUIR — FILME E EXPERIMENTO — AMÉRICA LATINA has been in development for the past years, first leading to the exhibition of the same name, held in a web environment from June 7 to June 20, 2021.

the curation aimed to introduce artistic visions of dissidence through film creations, bridging Latin American circuits of cinema and visual arts.

ten programs, accessible in Portuguese and Spanish, showcased glances at the trajectories of artists and collectives, along with creative references they themselves pointed out. this encompassed a transversal set of experiences and correspondences, featuring films of varying durations, processes, and materials.

the programming also included a series of conversations with participating artists, and first exhibitions.

the curation was developed by Luís Fernando Moura, fuga's coordinator. producer Ana Carolina Antunes led the project's management. JoMaKA was assistant in the research process. one of the programs had Maria Nela Lebeque Hay as a guest curator.

the second outcome of the project is the book CUIR — FILME E EXPERIMENTO — AMÉRICA LATINA — Correspondências, which is close to completion and will be released in 2024 (in Portuguese). the book will bring together texts of ours along with contributions from guests writers, plus the comprehensive curatorial record. it will have free distribution, both of physical copies and a digital version.
